Team FLORIDA – Ride Weekend Details

The time has come, the ride is here!! Now to make sure you’re ready…
Here’s all the important info you need in order to have a GREAT weekend riding to #crushMS: 

TEAM FUNDRAISING UPDATE:

  • We’ve raised $84,651 this year and are currently the number 2 fundraising team by less than $10K. Great work, let’s keep it up and watch those donations roll in!! PLEASE send another email or post again right before the ride weekend… you’ll be AMAZED by the response you get! 
  • FAQ: What if I don’t meet the $250 minimum before the ride?
    • If you have not turned in the minimum donation by the start of the event, the National MS Society will discuss payment options with you, including charging the balance on a credit card. 

TLH JERSEY & BIB PICK-UPS:

  • Thursday 10/12 at Alewife – 1035 Park St | Jacksonville, FL 32204
    • 5:30pm – 8:30pm 
    • Grab your Team Left Hand jersey AND your MS Society rider packet
    • Load up on goodies from our sponsors like Nuun and Justin’s
  • Friday 10/13 at Hampton Inn Ponte Vedra Beach – 1220 Marsh Landing Pwky | Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250
    • 3:00pm – 7:00pm 
    • Find Linda at the Bike MS Packet Pick Up at the host hotel
  • Saturday 10/14 at the TPC Sawgrass Starting Line – 5430 Palm Valley Rd | Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082
    • 6:30am – 8:00am
    • Look for SAG Mom Linda near the starting line

  • Saturday:
    • High in the lower 80s, low around 72

    • Winds NE at 10 to 15 mph
  • Sunday:
    • High in the lower 80s, low around 72
    • Chance of scattered showers 
    • Winds NE at 10 to 20 mph

WHAT TO BRING: 

  • Make sure you bring everything you need to have a safe, comfortable ride… don’t forget your:
    • Amazing 2017 TLH jersey!
    • Helmet (you aren’t allowed to ride without one!)
    • Shoes
    • Cellphone
    • Water bottles
    • Sunglasses
    • Sunscreen
    • ID (for drinking beer at the finish line – you cannot drink without it!)
    • Medical Insurance Cards
    • Spare tires/fix a flat kit
    • Ziploc baggies (in case of rain)
    • Rain gear (weather dependent)
    • CASH to tip your amazing masseuse! 
    • SUPERHERO STUFF! You read that right… Our Team Tent theme this year is Superheroes, so dust off your cape, grab your mask and come prepared to save the world, one mile for MS at a time.

ROUTES: 

MASSAGE SIGN UP:

  • Kristen Hughes is once again volunteering to be our PERSONAL TEAM MASSEUSE and we can’t thank her enough! 
  • Just like years past, reserve your spot by making a $20 donation to Kristen’s fundraising page HERE
  • $20 for a 20 minute massage, 1 massage per rider 
  • Sign up for your time slot with our dedicated volunteer when you arrive in the team tent
    • Walk ups will be accepted until around 1:30pm, after which only pre-paid riders can sign up for available time slots. 
  • Donations go directly to the MS Society, so riders who have a massage are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to tip your masseuse!

SATURDAY MORNING:

  • Starting line is at TPC Sawgrass – 5430 Palm Valley Rd | Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082 
  • Allow plenty of time to arrive, get parked and get ready to ride!
    • Parking lot opens at 5:00am
    • Registration opens at 6:00am
  • Take advantage of the on site hydration station, get a last minute bike adjustment from a bike shop and enjoy breakfast, served from 6:00am-7:30am.
  • SAG Mom Linda will be on site to collect last minute items like flip-flops and sunglass cases, then will transport them to the finish line in Daytona
  • 7:00am TEAM PHOTO – Meet under the big tent for our “official” Team Photo 
  • Line up with the rest of team right after the photo and plan to take off with the group just after 7:30am! 
  • Support at REST STOP #2
    • Look for Carrie Bailey and her wonderful daughter when approaching Rest stop 2 – they’ll be on site to take photos and to collect any “peel-off” clothing you’d like transported to the finish line (they’ll have ziplock bags ready to label) 

SATURDAY TEAM VILLAGE:  

  • Team Tent:
    • Our amazing volunteers & sponsors have worked hard to make this year’s Team Tent amazing, as always. After you finish riding, plan to hang out in our SUPERHERO THEMED Team Tent and enjoy…
      • KEG FOOTH BATHS! 
      • COLD LEFT HAND BEER! 
      • AN AMAZING FOOD LINEUP THANKS TO GNARLY BARLEY!!!
      • GOOD TIMES AND LAUGHS WITH OUR TEAM!
      • SUPER HERO PHOTO BOOTH!
      • TEAM SHIRTS AVAILBLE FOR A DONATION!
  • Team Photo:
    • Be at our tent at 4:30pm for our TEAM PHOTO! Bring your smiles, a beer and your best superhero costume!
  • Meals:
    • TACO BAR thanks to Gnarly Barley, plus snacks and something sweet from other sponsors.
  • Beer!!!!
    • All riders receive 3 pints (except TLH… we don’t count for you *shhhhh*)
    • Guest beer wristbands can be purchased at the Team Tent Village entrance 
    • Don’t forget your ID! Even if you haven’t been 21 in decades…. NO ID = NO BEER (even if we know you)

SUNDAY MORNING:

  • Breakfast is served from 5:30am-7:30am. 
  • Line up and opening ceremonies are from 7:00am-7:30am, riders begin departing in waves at 7:30am.
